The 3-Minute Prayer Jar Devotional: Daily Inspiration for Women by Wanda E. Brunstetter, Janice Thompson, & Donna K. Maltese

The 3-Minute Prayer Jar Devotional: Daily Inspiration for Women
ABOUT THE BOOK

Inspired by New York Times bestselling author Wanda E. Brunstetter’s The Prayer Jars series. . .

The 3-Minute Prayer Jar Devotional: Daily Inspiration for Women delivers the same life-changing inspiration as Wanda E. Brunstetter’s unforgettable stories. Every reading will help you draw closer to your heavenly Father.

Your prayer life will be transformed as you read through these daily encouraging devotional readings centered around the themes of forgiveness, hope, and healing.

With each turn of the page, you’ll discover the unchanging truths of God’s Word alongside meaningful prompts that guide you to write out your personal prayers or favorite, promise-filled Bible verses to add to your very own prayer jar. (Simple instructions are included in the introduction.)

Once you’ve finished reading the last page, you’ll have a full prayer jar of your very own. Use it to infuse your heart with inspiration and encouragement when you need it—or share it with a friend who could use some faith restoration of her very own!

MY THOUGHTS.....

This isn't the first Prayer Jar Devotional, but it is the first to offer a full year of devotions in one volume. Authors Wanda E. Brunstetter, Janice Thompson, and Donna K. Maltese share devotions meant to be enjoyed in three minutes. THREE MINUTES, but the benefits CANNOT be measured! Each daily offering requires one minute to read the suggested Bible scripture, one minute to read the devotional, and one minute for prayer. Three minutes that will bless the lives of women longing to revitalize their spirits by spending more time with God!

Brunstetter's popular Prayer Jars fiction series inspired this devotional, and instructions to create your own prayer jar are included. I guarantee that your prayer jar will fill up quickly once you read the wide range of topics, including healing, hope, and forgiveness.

This wonderful resource is packaged with a pink cover, pink bookmark, and even pink illustrations, but the true beauty comes in the inspiration it provides. It is perfect for both personal use and gift giving!

I received a complimentary copy from the author and Barbour Publishing. There was no obligation for a positive review.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

On a Midnight Clear by Tracie Peterson, Karen Witemeyer, & Misty M. Beller

On a Midnight Clear
ABOUT THE BOOK

Can they find a place to put their hearts and hope this Christmas?

Beloved authors Tracie Peterson, Misty M. Beller, and Karen Witemeyer come together with this festive novella collection inspired by the Nativity story and filled with faith, promise, and romance.

The Shepherd's Heart by Tracie Peterson
On the frontier, widowed sheep rancher Vincent Duran seeks a mother for his two children. Angel Lewis agrees to marry him despite believing Vincent will never truly love her, but as they work together during a fierce winter storm, will their broken hearts finally find peace, joy, and love?

No Room at the Inn by Misty M. Beller
When Noah Bentwood and his charge are snowed in while traveling through the Rocky Mountains, he must stay in a barn since the stage inn has no vacant rooms. Then innkeeper Hope Palmer's family heirloom disappears, and she and Noah work together to find it before Christmas. While the snowfall holds them captive, will unexpected feelings bloom?

A Star in the West by Karen Witemeyer
Friendly correspondence with Stella Barrington evolves into something more when Harvard mathematics professor Frank Stentz arrives in Waco, Texas. As the two experiment with extending their relationship beyond letters, an impossible dilemma arises between love and logic. Will her wise man be able to calculate a way for them to be together?

Rediscover the joy of Christmas with these faith-based historical romances from bestselling authors featuring sweet Western frontier stories with themes of marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and friends-to-more.

MY THOUGHTS.....

First of all, I love this cover! It reminds me of the Christmas cards sent to my parents during my childhood, and the three stories inside made those memories especially vivid! On a Midnight Clear is a novella collection inspired by the Nativity story, but there's a twist! The novellas are set in the 1800s in Nebraska and Texas. What could be better than a Western retelling of the age-old story of Jesus's birth?

I love the characters created by authors Tracie Peterson, Misty M. Beller, and Karen Witemeyer! A sheep farmer, a female innkeeper, and a brilliant Harvard mathematician, aka a wise man, are all featured in stories that mirror the participants in the Nativity. There are twists, turns, and a few surprises as these authors share humor and inspiration in their clever retellings. There are also intriguing romances that include a marriage of convenience, a second chance at love, and a courtship that began in the mail!

On a Midnight Clear is a wonderful way to usher in your holiday season. It has history, romance, Western adventure, and the story of Christmas, all in one collection. I recommend it to all who enjoy historical Christian romance set during the Christmas season.

I received a complimentary copy from Bethany House Publishers. There was no obligation for a positive review.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Riches Beyond Measure (Golden State Treasure, #3) by Mary Connealy

Riches Beyond Measure (Golden State Treasure, #3)
ABOUT THE BOOK

When an earthquake strikes Two Harts Ranch, it shakes the life of Annie Lane along with Cord Westbrook, who has been working as a cowboy on Annie's family's ranch in anticipation of purchasing his own. The only thing delaying his plan is the deep attraction he feels toward Annie, a widow with a child and an established life as a teacher at the Hart School for Orphans. Unfortunately for Cord, she seems determined to avoid romance.

The aftermath of the earthquake reveals that prized artifacts from the long-sought MacKenzie treasure have been stolen from the ranch. But the return of the MacKenzie family to Two Harts soon has everyone focused on what other precious finds might await at the end of the legendary two-part map. As Cord, Annie, and the MacKenzies set out in search of riches, they face dangers more perilous than earthquakes. With gold in their sights and love within reach, Cord and Annie realize that some treasures may fade, but true riches are far more valuable than earthly goods.

This riveting conclusion to Mary Connealy's Golden State Treasure series is a rousing California wilderness adventure filled with danger, deception, and second chances.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Riches Beyond Measure is the perfect read for all of us who grew up watching TV westerns! Set in 1875 at Two Hearts Ranch in California, it begins with a terrifying earthquake, progresses to the discovery that priceless treasure has been stolen, and continues with the desperate search to recover it. Author Mary Connealy shares a nail-biting adventure with unforgettable characters, sweet romance, her trademark humor, and a wonderful faith element. As Cord and Annie search for physical treasure, they are also reminded that the greatest treasures are family, faith, and their spiritual relationship with God! Cord knows his feelings for the widowed Annie, but can she risk more pain and heartache?

I love this engaging story and the satisfying epilogue that provides updates on the Hart, MacKenzie, and Westbrook families. The hunt for the MacKenzie treasure reaches a fulfilling conclusion and these amazing characters realize that "true riches come from God alone."

Mary Connealy excels in writing romantic comedies set in the cowboy era. I recommend Riches Beyond Measure to all who enjoy historical Christian fiction!

Flourish: Grace-Centered Practices to Protect and Grow a Fruitful Life in Christ by Ava Pennington

Flourish: Grace-Centered Practices to Protect and Grow a Fruitful Life in Christ
ABOUT THE BOOK

Bible teacher Ava Pennington reveals how to reclaim and defend the fruit of the Spirit from the Enemy

The fruit of the Spirit is promised to every Christian, so why do so many believers lack love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? For those dissatisfied with their level of spiritual maturity, those seeking tools and guidance to cultivate their relationship with God, and those looking to transform their lives, Flourish is the perfect resource, designed to help readers grow in their faith journeys.

With a grace-centered perspective on the fruit of the Spirit, author and Bible teacher Ava Pennington equips readers with biblical principles and practices to recognize Satan's attacks, shield their hearts, and recover what the thief has stolen. Readers will learn how to nurture growth in Christ, protect their fruitfulness, and share the harvest.

Instead of being cheated out of fully ripened godly characteristics, readers can fight spiritual battles with spiritual weapons and reclaim the fruit of the Spirit in their lives. With personal application and discussion questions at the end of each chapter, Flourish is a perfect small group resource.

AMAZON

MY THOUGHTS.....

Fruit of the Spirit. How often have we read Galatians 5:22-23 in our Bibles, or heard ministers encourage us to strive for these attributes? In this new book, author Ava Pennington provides an enlightening look at the nine "fruits" while offering encouragement to help us achieve them.

Reading this book felt like a personal one-to-one conversation with Pennington, and Flourish was "chock full" of Scripture to support the theories she shares. Each chapter concludes with a set of Application Questions to further challenge my thinking and there are Notes in the back to offer more documentation.

Flourish isn't just for new believers! I was challenged, as a seasoned Christian, to read, ponder, search, and pray about this fruit offered by the Holy Spirit. I was also reminded that I can't just choose the fruits that I like---they are facets of the ONE fruit that the Holy Spirit grows in my life to help me mature in my relationship with God.

This book is perfect for individual use, but it would also be a wonderful resource for a group Bible study. I highly recommend Flourish to anyone wanting to strengthen their Christian walk.

I received a copy of this book from Kregel Publications. There was no obligation for a positive review, and no monetary compensation was offered.

Snowbound at Christmas: A Wind River Mail-Order Brides Christmas Anthology: Lacy Williams presents Wendy Galinetti, Wendy Klopfenstein, and Traci Summeril

Snowbound at Christmas: A Wind River Mail-Order Brides Christmas Anthology
ABOUT THE BOOK

One Christmas snowstorm creates havoc for three couples who find themselves snowed in together—and a chance for new love to bloom and old feelings to be rekindled. Curl up on a winter's afternoon with this anthology of three heartwarming love stories set in the Wind River story world.

Heart's Secret Haven

Livery owner Lilly Murdock would prefer to skip over Christmas entirely. She's given up on finding love. What kind of man wants a wife who spends her days tending to the stable and who smells like a horse? When a snowstorm traps her with her childhood friend, old dreams come back to life. Rancher Jakob Anderson can't think of a worse punishment than being stuck inside the barn for days with the woman he once loved and never forgot. As he spends more time with Lilly, he realizes the feelings he thought he'd gotten over are just as strong as ever...

Her Gingerbread Refuge

Widowed bakery owner Caroline Wilson has one to give her children a perfect Christmas. When a stranger and his young sister blow into her small-town bakery in the middle of a blizzard, she finds all her careful plans upended... and finds herself drawn to the driven businessman. Jerome Barnett doesn't know what to do with a younger sister—one he didn't even know existed until a letter arrived. It's Caroline that helps them connect, and Caroline that begins to melt his guarded heart.

Her Yuletide Protector

Heiress Lizzie Hamilton is on a desperate quest to escape an arranged marriage and finds herself trapped on a snowed-in train and mistaken for a common thief. She can't trust anyone, not even the deputy with shadowed eyes and a vulnerability beneath his hard exterior. Deputy Slate Jackson sees everything in black and white. But Lizzie is a conundrum. Kind to small children, afraid of every noise, a sadness she can't seem to shake. Is she really a thief or is she hiding a different kind of secret? When the snow begins to melt and the danger chasing Lizzie draws close, Slate must decide whether he can trust Lizzie... and his own heart.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Snow, Christmas, and the western town of Calvin, Wyoming are the common themes in this enjoyable collection of novellas. The characters may be different, the circumstances varied, but all three share a powerful message of hope, faith, and love.

Heart's Secret Heaven by Wendy Galinetti: Lilly and her longtime classmate find themselves trapped in a stable during a snowstorm. Will Jakob's longtime love for Lilly finally come to light?

"The seed was planted on that first day at school. You offered me friendship and smoothed the path to this strange new life."

Her Gingerbread Refuge by Wendy Klopfenstein: During the snowstorm, Jerome and his younger sister are forced to seek lodging with a family in Calvin. Will he learn the true meaning of Christmas from the young widow who lives above the bakery with the five children she cares for?

"Wanting something for herself hadn't ruined Christmas. It'd added to all their lives on this glorious holiday of all holidays."
"And he knew. It truly was the best Christmas ever."

Her Yuletide Protector by Traci Summeril: Lizzie is accused of being a thief after she flees her abusive fiancé. Can she convince Deputy Jackson that she's innocent? Will they learn to trust each other as they try to escape the danger?

"Slate had made no secret that he didn't trust her. But fool that she was, she was starting to care about him."

This delightful anthology is filled with family, faith, and second chances. I recommend Snowbound at Christmas to all who enjoy historical Christian romance.

I received a complimentary eBook from the publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. publisher.

Their Texas Christmas Redemption (Legacy Ranch, 2) by Mindy Obenhaus

Their Texas Christmas Redemption: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance (Legacy Ranch, 2)
ABOUT THE BOOK

’Tis the season for a second chance at love.

Back home at her family’s Texas ranch for the holidays, the last thing Audrey Caldwell expects to see is her ex-husband, Tyler, on her doorstep—with his orphaned niece. The sweet baby in his arms brings up painful memories that she’d rather forget, but when little Willow gets sick, Audrey can’t turn them away. She offers to care for the baby if Tyler agrees to do some construction projects on the ranch. As they work together on a community Christmas event, neither can deny their growing connection. Can they heal their deepest wounds and find their way back to the family they always wanted?

MY THOUGHTS.....

I've learned that author Mindy Obenhaus possesses magic when spinning a story, and this book proves it once again! Their Texas Christmas Redemption takes us back to Legacy Ranch in Texas just as the Christmas holidays are approaching. Just reading the activities on Christmas Eve Day made me want to pull out my Christmas tree and begin my own celebration!

This story, however, is also a poignant reminder about grief: it can either make a marriage stronger or totally destroy it! Audrey and Tyler experienced the latter until a precious baby named Willow became an integral part of their unexpected reunion at Legacy Ranch. Could they overcome their deep pain and work together to help this adorable orphan?

If you enjoy enduring characters, sweet romance, and second chances, you're going to love this book. You will also treasure the strong message of faith and redemption that's woven into its captivating story! I highly recommend Their Texas Christmas Redemption, and I hope that Audrey's Aunt Dee gets to experience her own romance in the next book of the Legacy Ranch romance series!

I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. These are my own thoughts.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beyond the Valley (Valley Series, Book 3) by Bonnie Leon

Beyond the Valley (Valley Series Book 3)
ABOUT THE BOOK

In a land untamed, only faith can light the way.

Emmalin Hammond and Jacob Landon begin their new life together as husband and wife, settling into Jacob’s log cabin north of Deer Creek in the rugged Oregon Territory in the spring of 1857. With Emmalin’s adopted daughter by their side, they embrace the hardships of pioneer life, ready to face the wilderness and build a future from the ground up.

But as they navigate the trials of marriage and frontier survival, a threat far more dangerous than wild animals or harsh weather emerges—a man from Jacob’s past, driven by vengeance and determined to destroy everything they've built. When violence reaches their doorstep, Emmalin and Jacob must lean on a steadfast faith to confront the danger head-on.

As the threat escalates, their love, their land, and even the life of their child hang in the balance. Will the storm shatter their fragile new beginning—or shape them for a greater purpose only God can see?

MY THOUGHTS.....

This is the third book of a series, but author Bonnie Leon helps new readers by highlighting tidbits from the other books in the first few chapters of Beyond the Valley. It's now 1857, and Emmalin Hammond has just become a wife and a mother to an adopted daughter in the Oregon Wilderness. She may seem unprepared for the hardships, but Emmalin is gutsy and determined to make a home for Jacob and Annie.

Leon's descriptive talents have never been better! I could see the beautiful Oregon landscape, feel the bitter cold, and hear the mournful howls of the wolves. The multifaceted characters and historical details are woven into an intriguing tale of fear, pain, and loss. but hope and joy are still present. Sweet romance, inspiring faith, and an undying pioneer spirit make this a journey worth traveling. Beyond the Valley is a wonderful conclusion to The Valley historical series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Daughter of Shiloh (Enduring Hope #3) by Terri J. Haynes

The Daughter of Shiloh (Enduring Hope #3)
ABOUT THE BOOK

A Stampede Tramples Hopes

Lealie Bevard, a determined Tuskegee Institute student, attends the Shiloh Baptist Church convention in Birmingham on September 19, 1902, to request a scholarship for continued education at Harvard. But a beautiful gathering turns tragic when a stampede breaks out and Lealie is injured. While convalescing at the home of fellow Tuskegee student Milton Rafferty, Lealie’s concerns for her future are set aside to help Milton uncover a mystery revolving around missing church funds and a possible murder. Perhaps a pause in Lealie’s well-laid plans can be used for good and lead to love.

MY THOUGHTS.....

This book is a perfect example of why I love historical fiction! Danger, mystery, and romance were intriguing elements, but the historical details were especially enlightening. I'd never heard of the Shiloh Baptist Church Stampede of 1902 or the fact that it was one of the biggest man-made disasters of its time. Numerous lives were lost, and those remaining were left to face challenging futures. Who caused such evil, and why was this Baptist convention targeted?

Lealia and Milton are the primary focus in The Daughter of Shiloh, but many other characters struggle with shock, pain, and a desperate search for answers. I was impressed with the character development, the realistic emotions, and the historical facts so essential to this story, but author Terry J. Haynes also includes a powerful message of hope and faith. The Daughter of Shiloh is a worthy addition to the Enduring Hope series from Barbour Publishing, and I recommend this engaging story to all who enjoy historical Christian fiction.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
