Playing for Keeps (Home to Heritage Book 4) by Andrea Michelle Wood, Tari Faris, & Susan May Warren

Playing for Keeps (Home to Heritage Book 4)
ABOUT THE BOOK

Substitute Teacher Piper Caveneau is all about making sure her students succeed—even if she has to bench the entire Heritage Football team. And of course she’ll stand up to the school’s new football coach. Even if he, inconveniently, happens to be the charming man who rescued her on her first night in town.

But being a teacher is her calling—and a fulltime position in Heritage is her dream and she’ll do whatever it takes to finally call this small town home.

Former NFL player Titus Ford can’t believe he’s back in the tiny, cramped town of Heritage, Michigan—but a guy has to do something while he’s trying to recover, so sure, he’ll coach his former high school team. Titus doesn’t have time for distractions—especially not the fiery new English teacher who’s derailed his season by failing his players.

When Piper suggests tutoring for his kids, he’s willing to give it a chance. He has no idea that one yes might lead to the life he never thought he wanted. And Piper just might find the home she longs for.

But when a prestigious coaching job comes calling…and Piper’s dreams go up in smoke, maybe Heritage wasn’t their happy ending after all.

MY THOUGHTS.....

What could be better than a return visit to Heritage, Michigan? How about a visit during football season? I loved the hilarious first meeting between a substitute teacher and the football coach, but it didn't take long for their initial attraction to cool! How dare a teacher allow a football player's grades to interfere with his playing in an important game?

I loved this return to one of my favorite fictional places, the chance to catch up with all of the residents, and an opportunity to meet some intriguing newcomers. Playing for Keeps was filled with heartwarming interactions between Piper and her students, Titus and his players, and the townspeople who were there to cheer both of them on. Could they overcome their past hurts and build a new future in Heritage? Would they find a way to work together?

This is an engaging story with well-developed characters and an inspiring message of hope and faith. I thoroughly enjoyed this second-chance story from new-to-me author, Andrea Michelle Wood!

I received a complimentary copy from Sunrise Publishing and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tari Faris
has been writing fiction for more than twelve years. It has been an exciting journey for this math-loving-dyslexic girl. I had read less than a handful of novels by the time I graduated from college and I thought I would end up in the field of science or math. But God had other plans and I wouldn't trade this journey for anything. As someone told me once, God's plans may not be easy, and they may not always make sense but they are never boring.

In addition to my writing, I also work for My Book Therapy as a special project project manager and blog coordinator for LearnHowToWriteAnNovel.com and you can find me blogging over there on occasion.

When I am not writing or working, I spend time with my amazing husband. We have been married for fifteen wonderful years and have three sweet children. In my free time, I love coffee, rock hounding with my husband and kids, and distracting myself from housework.
