Off the Chain (Gone to the Dogs #1) by Janice Thompson

Off the Chain (Gone to the Dogs #1)
ABOUT THE BOOK

The Town of Brenham, Texas, Has Gone to the Dogs!

Curl up with your pup and sink into a delightful small-town mystery as riddles and rescues stack up in book one of a new cozy mystery series.

Marigold Evans’ first attempt at rescuing an abandoned pooch lands her in a drainage pipe in Brenham Texas. . .and almost in jail, until Parker Jenson comes to her rescue. Then a bad day only gets worse as the Lone Star Vet Clinic, where they both work, is vandalized and the list of suspects starts to climb. With the help of her fellow employees, Marigold sets out to simultaneously solve the crime, rehab the rescued dog, and help more dogs in crisis. But why would anyone continue to work against all their good efforts?

MY THOUGHTS.....

Sometimes I need a change in my reading choices and this book came at just the right time! Off the Chain is a cozy mystery that offered me a chance to solve a mystery and have fun doing it! Great characters, lovable pets, and a special small-town setting were my initial reasons for liking this book, but author Janice Thompson took it a step further. Her addition of an unsolved crime, numerous suspects, wanna-be detectives, and the promise of romance made it absolutely perfect!

Off the Chain is such an enjoyable story! I loved the humor, Marigold's love and devotion for the animals at the vet clinic, and the inspiration and wisdom that Grandma Peach was ALWAYS happy to share. She was also eager to find a mate for Marigold and very obvious in her preference for Peter Jensen! If you're eager to solve a mystery but shy away from violent situations, this book is for you. Grab a copy and be prepared to laugh, sigh, and enjoy yourself!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
