MY THOUGHTS.....

This is such a special book! Rhyming text and colorful illustrations are used to tell the story of a young boy who can't sleep until he's visited by a sandman with some special sand. Is it the magic sand that finally helps this boy go to sleep or could it be the wise advice that the sandman gives him?

'We all have our problems. Relax. Do your best. Then leave things to God. He'll take care of the rest.'

This book is entertaining but oh, so meaningful! Night of Mysterious Blessings reminds us that God is always with us, and he knows everything about us! He understands our fears and He's always listening to our prayers. This is a wonderful book for families to read together and author Sally Metzger shares discussion questions and two crafts to go along with the story. Night of Mysterious Blessings offers reassurance and a powerful faith message to those young readers who have their own problems going to sleep!

Her Christmas Redemption by Toni Shiloh

Her Christmas Redemption
ABOUT THE BOOK

Can she find a second chance…
on a town’s holiday wish list?

Organizing her church’s Christmas Wishes program is the perfect start to Vivian Dupre’s new life—one without the shame of her recent mistakes. But as she grows closer to co-coordinator Michael Wood, she’s even more determined to keep her past hidden. Together they can give joy to their small town. But when Michael discovers her secret, will he be willing to grant Vivian’s holiday wish—forgiveness?

From Love Inspired: Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness, and hope.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Vivian Dupre isn't the person that she once was and she's eager to begin a new life in Willow Springs. There is, however, a secret that she's afraid to reveal. She wants to honor her commitment to follow God, but will she lose everything if she tells the truth? Will she be judged for her past mistakes?

Author Toni Shiloh shares a wonderful faith message as she explores Vivian's emotional journey. Fear, uncertainty, shame, and regrets plague Vivian but she also possesses the joy that comes from being a new believer. I was touched by her faith, her eager anticipation to celebrate Christmas in Willow Springs, and her growing attraction to a man who's battling his own trust issues. I was also challenged by Shiloh's references to seasoned believers who may appear judgmental. Would I have allowed Vivian's past to color my feelings?

Her Christmas Redemption is a heartwarming second-chance story that is laced with faith, forgiveness, and redemption. It's a perfect read for the holidays!

I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

An Alaskan Christmas Promise (Home to Owl Creek, #6) by Belle Calhoune

An Alaskan Christmas Promise
ABOUT THE BOOK

A Christmas to cherish…

And a secret to protect.

This needs to be the best Christmas Kit O’Malley has ever seen—because she may not be able to see another. Diagnosed with failing vision, it takes all her determination to stay focused on what makes her happy: her daughter, her service-puppy-in-training and the puppy’s trainer, Leo Duggan. But they can’t reach their Christmas joy together until Kit’s secret comes to light…

A K-9 COMPANIONS TALE

From Love Inspired: Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness, and hope.

MY THOUGHTS.....

I never get tired of visiting Owl Creek, Alaska and this new book by author Belle Calhoune is an especially poignant visit. Kit O'Malley has a lot of burdens weighing on her. She's raising her one-year-old daughter by herself, and she's been diagnosed with macular degeneration. She also has a secret that she needs to protect. Can she bear these burdens alone?

An Alaskan Christmas Promise gave me all of the feels! I could imagine Kit's fear of the future and her reluctance to divulge part of her past. Her desire to have a service dog to help her retain her independence, and her overwhelming need to protect her sweet little Ada. Will she be able to care for her daughter if her sight is completely taken away? And then, there's her friendship with the dog trainer who may be able to provide the service puppy that she desperately longs for. Is Leo Duggan meant to become more than just an old friend? Does he hold the key to her future?

If you're longing for an inspiring Christmas story with a special setting and wonderful characters that include an adorable dog and a precious toddler, look no further! An Alaskan Christmas Promise is a heartwarming romance that is filled with faith and trust during a season known for joy and hope. It's a great addition to both the Home to Owl Creek series and the K-9 Companions series.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In castles far and near, long ago and yesterday, find happily-ever-afters wrapped in love and tied with Christmas joy.

Escape to Greenaway (by Chautona Havig): She just wanted to escape another holly, jolly family holiday. Because snowbound in a castle B&B with one of Santa’s elves (or as good as) is so much better. With the help of the castle’s owner, Tonya plays matchmaker in a bid to get that Christmas-loving girl out of her hair.

The King’s Promise (by Tabitha Bouldin): In a world of airships and kings, a prince makes a promise that tears him away from his love. An ordinary baker’s daughter finds herself caught in the middle of a game where the winner earns the queen’s crown. They both want what they can’t have as they struggle toward a seemingly impossible happily ever after.

A Castle for Christmas (by Susan K. Beatty): Sadie Foster abhors wealth. Will Randolph, on the other hand, works for the uber-wealthy owner of an over-the-top castle on the California coast–Sadie’s father. When Christopher Foster leaves the castle to her, Sadie doesn’t want anything to do with it or his money. But what if Sadie and Will use the castle and her inheritance for the good of others—together?

An Irish Christmas Heart (by Jennifer Sienes): Will she choose love or an arranged marriage? In the midst of post-famine unrest, Eleanor Blake, daughter of an English nobleman, is thrown into a maelstrom of emotions. How will she escape the duty for which she was born and the confines of the ill-fated Menlo Castle of Galway, Ireland to find her true love?

Christmas at Curwood’s Castle (by Melissa Wardwell): A Christmas party at Curwood Castle should have been Angel Davis’ Cinderella moment. Especially when her dear friend Jimmy arrives. Instead, one obstacle after another threatens to break any chance at a happily-ever-after.

Christmas in the Cotswolds (by Stacy T. Simmons): She’s a paleontologist and ardent Jane Austen fan. He’s enmeshed in the exactitude of mathematics, can they find common ground? Do opposites attract, will the romantic castle, and dashing duke be the undoing of Victoria’s plans?

Grab a mug of something hot and delicious and curl up somewhere comfy. Your literary chariots await to take you on a journey from an early twentieth-century castle in the San Gabriel Mountains of California all the way across the pond to the beautiful Cotswolds of England. These six novellas, all set in castles real and fictional, celebrate the heart and joy of Christmas in this second volume of castle Christmas novellas.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Have you ever dreamed of being a princess with your own castle? Are you a lover of all things Christmas? This delightful collection of novellas is a chance to enjoy both castles and Christmas. Six different authors share tales that are set in castles around the world. Some are contemporary and some are historical, but they all offer romance, hope, and faith. No, they aren't fairy tales so there are realistic misunderstandings and conflicts but, in the end, happiness does prevail! Isn't that what we long for at all times, but especially during this special time of year?

This is an enjoyable anthology that's filled with the many emotions that surround the Christmas holiday. Reading it made me want to start my own Christmas preparations and it allowed me to discover some new-to-me authors. So, grab a copy of Keeping Christmas Volume 2, treat yourself to a cup of hot chocolate, and enjoy Christmas in a castle!

I received a complimentary copy from the authors via Celebrate Lit. There was no obligation for a positive review, and I am voluntarily sharing my thoughts.

USA Today Bestselling author of Aggie and Past Forward series, Chautona Havig lives in an oxymoron, escapes into imaginary worlds that look startlingly similar to ours and writes the stories that emerge. Jennifer Sienes holds a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in education, but discovered life-experience is the best teacher. She loves Jesus, romance and writing—and puts it altogether in inspirational contemporary fiction. Her daughter’s TBI and brother’s suicide inspired two of her three novels. Although fiction writing is her real love, she’s had several non-fiction pieces published in anthologies including several in Chicken Soup for the Soul. She has two grown children and one very spoiled Maltese. California born and raised, she recently took a step of faith with her real-life hero and relocated to Tennessee.

Melissa Wardwell resides in Owosso, Michigan with her husband and three teen-aged children. She doesn’t mind alternating between the world of writing and the reality of being a mother, but she would rather sit with a good book or a good friend and a cup of coffee. When she isn’t penning works of fiction, she is busy reviewing books for her blog, Back Porch Reads. To see more from Melissa Wardwell, visit www.melissawardwell.com

Who says you can’t begin a new career after middle age? Certainly not Susan K. Beatty. She is passionate about writing about finding courage through faith and grit, particularly through the trials of breast cancer and other life trials. Her daughter is a metastatic breast cancer “thriver” and has been an inspiration for her writing. Susan’s first novel, Faces of Courage, debuted May 2021, as part of the Faces of Courage series, including several novelettes. She is also the author of An Introduction to Home Education (AKA California Homeschool Manual). Susan is a professional writer/journalist and is active in the writer community. She is proof you can begin a fiction writing career at any age.

Stacy T. Simmons writes uplifting fiction that delights the reader’s romantic sensibilities. Thirty-four years of marital bliss is a great contributor. She is a mom of two grown children, and she and her family have a menagerie of pets she likes to call “Noah’s Ark.” You can find her working on her next manuscript with a piece of dark chocolate and a cup of coffee nearby. Connect with Stacy on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and her blog, Fueled by Faith and Caffeine.

More from Tabitha

Castles near and far. Over time and across worlds both real and fictional. When it came time to write for Keeping Christmas, the world opened up to offer each of us a jewel for our stories. While I chose to base my castle off of a real castle in Romania, others chose a different route. Yet we all came together with a singular mission to write stories about Christmas and to bring the joy of Christ into each and every book. Keeping Christmas is about more than overseeing a holiday. It is looking back through the years of Christmases far and wide, from our real world through fantasy lands some of us dreamed up, and keeping the spirit of the season alive.

Come and keep Christmas with us as we journey across land and sea, through the skies on an airship, and deep into the contemporary halls and towering turrets. Here you’ll meet characters to fall in love with and read stories that span the ages, from a scribe in King Herod’s castle to a paleontologist in the Cotswolds.

Sundown (Sky King Ranch, #3) by Susan May Warren

Sundown (Sky King Ranch, #3)
ABOUT THE BOOK

Former Delta Operative Colt Kingston knows when someone is lying. He may not know the truth, but he sure doesn't trust Tae, the woman who is caring for his ailing father at Sky King Ranch. Behind those beautiful blue eyes, he can tell there is a troubled--and smart--woman.

A few of her stories prove true--he's found the crashed plane and the dead body inside. Still, her story of survival seems too incredible to believe . . . until the thugs she claims to be hunting her show up and threaten Sky King Ranch. Now Tae must disappear, along with her secrets.

But Colt's not about to let her go it alone. And when they discover that her secrets include the antidote to a plague that threatens the world, it'll take all three Kingston brothers to save the country they've vowed to protect.

Susan May Warren brings her Sky King Ranch series to a climactic close with this high-stakes race against the clock.

MY THOUGHTS.....

This is the third book in the Sky King Ranch series and it's a thrilling conclusion. Colt Kingston is the primary focus in Sundown, but we also see his brothers Dodge and Ranger in action again. There's just something special about these Kingston triplets and their dad Barry. Is it their bravery? Their willingness to serve and protect their country? Or the faith in God that helps them survive and thrive? Yep, these Kingston men are truly amazing!

Sundown is filled with non-ending action and intense danger as Colt and Tae Price work feverishly to find a bioweapon before catastrophic destruction can occur. They also find themselves fighting the undeniable chemistry between them. No surprise since this is a Susan May Warren book. There has to be some clean but sizzling romance mixed in with the suspense! Sundown is definitely the book for you if you're looking for amazing characters and a strong faith message. It's an attention-grabbing contemporary romance that keeps you turning the pages until you reach its totally satisfying end!

I received a review copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.

Anything But Plain by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Anything But Plain
ABOUT THE BOOK

It's not easy being the bishop's daughter, especially for Lydie Stoltzfus. She's not like other Amish girls, as much as she wishes she were. The only thing she does well is disappointing others. Leaving her family and church seems unbearable, but staying might be worse.

Knowing Lydie is "between" jobs, the local doctor asks her to fill in at the front desk for a few months. To Lydie, this is a boon. It gives her time to figure out how she's going to say goodbye to her neighbor, Nathan Yoder--the main reason she needs to leave Stoney Ridge. Nathan claims he's in love with her, but she knows she's not good enough for him. If in doubt, Nathan's father reminds her frequently.

As Dok spends time with Lydie, she recognizes symptoms of a disorder rare among the Amish. She offers treatment for Lydie. But will it be enough to make her stay? Or has help come too late?

Bestselling and award-winning author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites you back to Stoney Ridge, a small town that feels like an old friend.

MY THOUGHTS.....

'Something was always happening to Lydie.'
This is why she plans to leave Stoney Ridge. Not because she wants to, but because she doesn't want to keep disappointing her family. She knows she will be leaving much of her heart behind, including the part that belongs to Nathan Yoder, but this is what she must do. Nathan is a young Amish farmer who wants to restore his mother's family farm to its former glory and believes that organic farming is the way to achieve this. He also believes that Lydie is the girl for him! Both of them have so many obstacles to overcome but can they conquer them together?

I loved this book! The characters, being able to return to Stoney Ridge, and the multi-layered plot that is so thought-provoking. Anything But Plain gives us an in-depth of Lydie's struggle with ADHD and the treatment that is recommended by Dok Ruth. How many times have you seen an Amish character with ADHD? Nathan's desire to practice organic farming is ridiculed by his father and brother, and I found myself extremely irritated with his father Walt Yoder. Guess all Amish people can't be as kind and likable as Bishop David Stoltzfus! And then there's the romance! Lydie may doubt herself but Nathan loves her just the way she is. There are a lot of misunderstandings between them but I just kept hoping that they could finally be together!

Faith, wisdom, and a genuine love for the Amish people are a big part of this delightful story and I'm always inspired after I read a book by this author. Well done, Suzanne Woods Fisher!

I received a review copy of this book courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.

Holy Pals PJs: Review of Special Christmas PJs with a Biblical Theme

Many families love to have matching pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Growing up, it was a tradition that my brother and I were given new pajamas, robes, and house shoes as part of our Christmas presents. No, they didn't match but we knew that they would be under the tree!

I'm thrilled to have a chance to tell you about a special product and to give you an opportunity to get your own special Christmas PJs. Holy Pals is a company that wants to help children to learn about God's Word.  When your kids wear these precious pajamas with various Bible print patterns, they don't just see biblical pictures---they're also learning God's Word because there's a reference to the Bible verse stitched on the sleeve. How fun is it to have biblical pictures and a Bible verse to go along with them?

Best of all, when you purchase these products, you are helping to give back! Every time you order a pair of Holy Pals pajamas, you are helping to send a cozy pair of Biblical pajamas to the children of the Littlest Lamb Orphanage in Egypt. Sharing with others is a big part of Christian living, and this offers a wonderful teaching opportunity for your little ones!

The Holy Pals pajamas:

  • are made from 100% soft and cozy cotton
  • the knit cotton is both very soft and comfortably stretchy
  • are consciously sourced and produced in India
  • are snug-fitting for women and children and loose-fitting for men
  • have a small label stitched on the right arm of each pair of Holy Pals pajamas, with the verse reference of the print
  • are available not only in Christmas prints, but also in prints featuring Easter, Palm Sunday, Esther, Noah, David & Goliath, Jonah, Adam & Even, and more

Jesus is the Reason for the Season

This is what we all need to remember and these Christmas pajamas are a fun and inspiring way to remind our children about the true story of Christmas. It's a delight to see these stories of The Holy Bible shown in a comfortable and cozy manner!

The Christmas patterns are pictured below. Starting from the top left, in clockwise formation, they are: Christmas Classic, Starry Night, Joy to the World, and Away in a Manger.

My Personal Holy Pals PJs Experience

I chose a long sleeve set for my 8-year-old granddaughter. The pajamas are well-made and the quality of the workmanship is impressive! The Starry Night Christmas set has a white Nativity scene pattern printed on a beautiful blue background and the 100% cotton material is extremely soft. My granddaughter is tall for her age so I chose a size 10. The pants are a perfect length, the material is beautiful, and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice!

But wait! There's one more special touch! Luke 2: 1-20 is the scripture reference printed on the pajama top sleeve and it's an awesome reminder of the night of Christ's birth. Another reminder that Jesus is the reason for the season!

Disclaimer Statement: I received a complimentary pair of Holy Pals PJs to facilitate my review but these are my own thoughts and opinions.
