Bones On the Mountain (The Mountain Protectors) by Mindy Steele

Bones On the Mountain
ABOUT THE BOOK

When not working as a first responder for the Milford County Sheriff’s department, single mother, Samantha Quinn runs the seasonal Deer Creek Hunting Lodge, until suddenly she finds herself the one needing rescued.

Henry Quinn’s baseball years are behind him. Now as a Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officer he finds himself called to rescue the last person he ever expected. Can he do his job and not make it personal, or will old ghost keep him from the only woman he ever loved.

Is it possible that Bear Claw Mountain have a serial killer roaming its woods?

MY THOUGHTS......

Samantha Quinn has endured pain, loss, and a failed marriage but she's never run away from her problems. She's definitely strong but will she be able to survive what's ahead?

Henry Owen Quinn is my kind of hero! He is a  conscientious game warden with Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, a loyal son, and someone who will protect anyone who needs protection. Even if it's his high school crush who chose his own brother over him! Now there's a serial killer and it appears that Sam is the target, so it's Quinn to the rescue!

Authors who enjoy huge success in a certain genre are sometimes reluctant to venture out into another. We can be thankful that Mindy Steele isn't one of them because her newest book proves that she's a natural at writing romantic suspense! Bones on the Mountain takes us on a desperate chase to find a serial killer who is apparently targeting a local dispatcher as the next victim. Steele offers multiple clues but there are some red herrings that kept me guessing about the villain's identity, and the past relationship between the hero and heroine adds some satisfying romantic conflict.

This story is a pleasing mix of realistic characters, intriguing family dynamics, and a fictional setting based on a Kentucky area that I know and love! I highly recommend Bones on the Mountain and I'm thrilled that there will be more books in The Mountain Protectors series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
