Not Precisely Mr. Knightley (The Silver Teapot #2) by Carolyn Miller

Not Precisely Mr. Knightley (The Silver Teapot #2)
ABOUT THE BOOK

Can the Matchmaker Find True Love?

Emma-Jane (EJ) Bennett and Jordan Knight are longtime best friends who codesigned the immensely successful dating app, Dream Match. Success starts to go to EJ's head when she gets caught up in the famous and money-hungry social circles and starts dating the son of a TV mogul. But Jordan's feelings have grown from friendship to more. He determines to protect her by exposing Eric Churchill for the two-timer he is, finally agreeing to attend a function with her at the Sydney Opera House. But his best intentions go awry when EJ is embarrassed and runs for the security of home, small-town roots, and The Silver Teapot Café, feeling like Jane Austen's chastised Emma--only without her Mr. Knightley.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Are you ready for a trip down under? Carolyn Miller takes us to Australia in an enjoyable story loosely based on a classic Jane Austen novel. Austen's Emma had trouble recognizing what was important, and Miller's Emma Jane Bennett has that same problem. She designed a dating app to help Christian singles find perfect matches, but its success is fueling her desire for wealth and prestige. Will EJ's faith suffer, along with her relationship with her lifelong best friend, Jordan Knight?

Miller does a wonderful job with the character development. I admired Jordan and his deep devotion to both EJ and God. And then there's EJ! Couldn't she see what she was throwing away? I was often aggravated until I realized it was because her behavior was so realistic! Wasn't EJ reflecting our society's obsession with fame and success? Do we allow those obsessions to alter our standards and beliefs?

I loved the friends-to-more romance and a return visit to The Silver Teapot Café. This may be a rom-com, but it also has a strong element of faith. I recommend Not Precisely Mr. Knightley to all who enjoy Christian contemporary romance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. These are my own thoughts.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Witness Safeguard Mission (Canine Defense Book 4) by Carol J. Post

Witness Safeguard Mission (Canine Defense Book 4)
ABOUT THE BOOK

A family in a killer’s crosshairs.
A K-9 determined to defend.

When Nicole Woodard and her young sister witness their father’s murder by an unknown assailant, Nicole knows they’re next on the killer’s hit list. Now they must rely on Officer Braydon Feldman and his K-9 partner, Caesar, for protection. The killer will stop at nothing to silence the sisters and keep the crime hidden. But what could their father have been involved in that got him killed? With attacks coming from all sides and dangerous family secrets being exposed, can Braydon and Nicole stay alive long enough to uncover the truth before the killer strikes again?

From Love Inspired  Courage. Danger. Faith.

MY THOUGHTS.....

So good! From the opening scenes to the satisfying epilogue, I was totally engaged in this exciting story. Nicole Woodard and her younger sister are catapulted into a frantic race to stay alive after witnessing their father's murder. This is certainly terrifying for Nicole, but can you imagine the fear of seven-year-old Maddy? Their shock, horror, and disbelief are perfectly depicted, along with their gratitude after Officer Braydon Feldman comes to their rescue. Will Braydon and his K9 partner, Caesar, succeed in protecting these witnesses?

Reading a book by this author is always a thrilling adventure! Intriguing characters, non-stop danger, mind-boggling suspense, and a well-developed plot are her strong points, but Carol J. Post never fails to add those personal vibes! Realistic emotions and inspiring nuggets of faith kept me fully invested and longing for more! I recommend Witness Safeguard Mission to all who enjoy heartwarming romantic Christian suspense.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

From medical secretary to court reporter to property manager to owner of a special events decorating company, my resume reads as if I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. But one thing that has remained constant through the years is my love for writing. I currently pen fun and fast-paced inspirational romance and romantic suspense stories. My books have won several awards and been nominated for two RITA® awards and an RT Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Award.

After spending most of my life in Florida, a few years ago, I moved to the mountains of North Carolina, where I write my stories outside on the back deck in the summertime and inside in front of the fireplace in the wintertime. When I’m not writing or doing writerly things, I enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking—almost anything outdoors. My two grown daughters and grandkids live too far away for my liking, so I now pour all that nurturing into taking care of two sassy black cats.

Find Me in the Blooms (Jonathon Island / Season 2, #2) by Alyssa Schwarz

Find Me in the Blooms (Jonathon Island | Season 2)
ABOUT THE BOOK

He ran the night before their wedding. She's been running ever since.

Wedding photographer Kate Sullivan has spent five years proving she's fine. Fine with the panic attacks. Fine being the overachieving sister everyone counts on. Fine that Lincoln St. James called off their wedding and disappeared.

She's not fine. But nobody needs to know that.

When her doctor orders a mandatory break, Kate retreats to charming Jonathon Island to help her family with the spring flower festival. Sun. Blossoms. No stress.

Then Lincoln walks back into her life.

The florist hired for the festival is the man who shattered her heart—and he's more gorgeous than ever. Worse? He's looking at her like he still loves her. Like he never stopped.

Lincoln knows he doesn't deserve a second chance. He panicked and ran, terrified of becoming his absent father. But Kate Sullivan was the best thing that ever happened to him, and he's spent five years regretting the night he let fear win.

Now, working side by side among blooming orchards and island magic, the feelings they buried come rushing back. But trust doesn't rebuild overnight—and some wounds run deeper than either of them knew.

Can a runaway groom prove he's finally ready to stay?

MY THOUGHTS.....

Jonathon Island. Who wouldn't want to live in a place where dreams begin, lifetime friendships are made, and second chances are freely given? I've loved visiting here many times before, and now, I have another chance. Find Me in the Blooms features an emotional reunion between Lincoln St. James and his ex, Kate Sullivan. They were engaged, he ran away from their engagement party, and Kate was left with a broken heart. He's back but how will they ever manage a working relationship, even if it is temporary?

I loved the realism in this second-chance story. Broken hearts and shattered dreams don't disappear overnight, and enemy-to-something-more takes a lot of work, but author Alyssa Schwarz offers the perfect depiction of the journey. I also loved that flowers play a major role, and Lincoln's romantic side is allowed to blossom and bloom!

If you enjoy stories filled with romance, faith, and redemption, grab a copy of Find Me in the Blooms. You may fall in love with Jonathon Island yourself!

I received a digital ARC from Sunrise Publishing. There was no obligation for a positive review.
