What was meant to be a brief return to San Padre Island immediately turned into a heart-pounding race to stay alive for Kara Evans and the police chief trying to protect her. Suddenly, Kara was forced to accept help from the man who broke her heart so long ago!

I was captivated by the clues surrounding the cold case murder of Kara's father, and I also loved the peek into Kara and Jeremy's tumultuous past. Working together, remembering they were each other's first love, and Jeremy's increasing affection for Kara's little girl, Emily---was there a chance for a future together? I also enjoyed catching up with characters from a previous visit to San Padre Island! Kudos to author Terri Reed for this engaging romantic Christian suspense novel.
