MY THOUGHTS.....

This Faith in Action Edition of The Action Bible is the perfect way to entice young readers to explore God's Word! The key word is GRAPHIC because eye-catching illustrations are the chief way of telling the story. Yes, there is text, but it is minimal, and actual Bible quotes are taken from the NIV translation. This Bible is also interactive, so it's exactly what kids are looking for today! All they have to do is scan the QR codes that are sprinkled throughout the Bible to find additional resources that are both fun and inspirational.

Why, as an adult, do I like this new Bible? I'm always eager to find faith-based reading for my granddaughter, so I was especially excited to find this new edition of the bestselling Action Bible from David C. Cook Publishing. The stories are told in chronological order, so I'm assured that she is getting God's amazing story of redemption, and there are even a couple of pages that show what happened between the Old and New Testament. It also has a variety of Spiritual Growth Resources, including over 200 devotionals, prayers, character stories, timelines, maps, and Bible facts. Even more reasons to grab a copy!

It's broken down into seven themes: Courage, Faith, Hope, Love, Service, Trust, and Wisdom. To make it easy the themes are arranged by color to highlight them. Every theme has a character illustration that is tied to a character trait along with a scripture verse.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR 

Sergio Cariello was born in Brazil. He knew by the age of five that he wanted to draw comics and his first comic strip was published in local newspapers when he was eleven years old.  As a young boy, he grew up with a Portuguese translation of The Picture Bible and never imagined he would one day work on the Bible as an artist. He used his experience working for Marvel Comics and DC Comics to bring his dream of illustrating the Bible to life.

MY THOUGHTS.....


Entertaining, educational, and inspirational. What more could you hope for when choosing a book for your children? Bright, colorful illustrations and an exciting plot are the attention-getters in this children's book, but author Dennis Conrad doesn't stop there.  I love that Marcus is a typical kid---he's capable of great things but he still has his moments! 

Marcus and the Emperor's Coin is a delightful book with scripture, biblical truths, and an introduction to the joys of coin collecting. There's also a wonderful history lesson concerning the Roman Empire and the importance of the denarius, the Roman Empire's standard silver coin. This book is a great choice for both readers and nonreaders and a wonderful addition to home and church libraries.

Meet the Author:

A former coin collector for over fifty years, Dennis combines his love for the Bible, children’s literature, and sharing stories about the history behind coins.

Dennis retired as a professor of speech communications from Barstow Community College. He and his wife served as English and public speaking teachers ten summers overseas.

Dennis became a sustaining member of the Numismatic Association of Southern California in 1979. He is also a life member of the American Numismatic Association.

Dennis is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and a Fellow of the National Writing Project.
