About Me I am a retired librarian and I now support books and authors through my reviews.

I have always loved to read and I was able to share that love through my work as a public librarian for 22 1/2 years. I now promote literacy by reading, and then writing reviews. I love to support authors by sharing my reviews with others!

Change can be difficult, especially for Savanna. When she gets a new trainer at a new barn, she can't help thinking about how much she'll miss Colts & Company. More than that...she's a little scared. What will happen when Savanna swallows her fear and takes a chance on Happenstance Farms?

A fun, relatable story about a girl and her pony, your child will love keeping up with the adventures at Happenstance Farms. With charming characters, lots of laughs, and social-emotional learning, this book is the perfect addition to any home or classroom library.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Savanna is a horse lover, but her days of riding her pony and training with Mrs. Kylin are over. Now she has to get used to a new trainer and a new home for Coffee, and she's feeling afraid and uncertain. Will there be anyone else her age? Will she feel out of place at Happenstance Farms? Will she be able to keep up with the other riders?

This is a charming story with a likable little girl, her special pony, and an adorable dog who's eager to become her new friend. Author S. McMichael shares easy-to-read text and the vivid illustrations by Justo Borrero make the story jump off the page! Happenstance Farms: A New Home is a perfect book for young horse lovers, and it's also a great way to show that change isn't always bad. I'll gladly share it with my eight-year-old granddaughter, and I'll be looking for more stories about Happenstance Farms.

I received a copy of this book from the author via iRead Book Tours. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Guest Post from Susie McMichael

Tell readers how they can help support you as a writer.

Happenstance Farms: A New Home is my first book in a series. Savanna has many adventures with Eli, Sophia, Ellen and a host of other characters at the barn. I want to enlist the support of readers and ask that once they read the book, they provide feedback on Amazon and Goodreads.

A person walking a horse

Description automatically generated with low confidenceI would also like to hear about the experiences that other children have encountered. The situations that Savanna and her friends go through will relate to a lot of people, but they may not have the same exact experiences. Readers may have completely different experiences at school, or an activity that they want to share.  So, I look forward to hearing about experiences from our readers.

I would like to hear some of the topics that children would like to read about at Happenstance Farm.  I have already received suggestions from the local equestrian community, so I look forward to broader feedback.

The ultimate support from readers would be to buy the Happenstance Farms books. Specifically, provide your son, daughter, family member or friend an opportunity to go on an adventure with Savanna and her friends at Happenstance Farms.  Thanks to everyone for their support and remember to keep reading!
