Is there anyone who hasn't heard of Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden? If you're a fan, you'll understand why I was so excited to learn that a new devotional was being published as a companion to this classic. Author Rachel Dodge shares thirty devotions that relate to this story that's captivated readers for over 100 years, and she shows us again why The Secret Garden is so special. She invites readers to relive the magic and feel the enchantment that Mary Lennox experienced when she entered the hidden garden and then, Dodge reminds us that we can also experience joy, peace, and enchantment. We just need to trust and believe to gain entrance to a special place that is tended by the Master Gardener himself!
The Secret Garden Devotional is a beautiful hardback book with a ribbon bookmark and gorgeous illustrations, but the true beauty comes from the inspiration and encouragement that are offered within its pages. Each devotion has a short reference to one of the chapters of Burnett's original story, along with carefully selected Bible scripture, a personal application, and a prayer prompt. How can we not be refreshed and revived when using this devotional? I'm always eager to enhance my devotion time and I've definitely found a worthy addition to my daily worship. It would also be a wonderful choice for a women's study group!
