He's sworn off love, but she has his heart in her sights and doesn't intend to miss.
Stained by his wastrel father's legacy, Jackson Spivey lives on the fringes of society. Townsfolk tolerate him since he keeps the local hotel supplied with fresh game, but mothers coach their daughters to avoid him. After tasting consistent rejection, Jackson spurns all attempts at courtship. The only things he can count on are his guns and his God.
Tessa James has been secretly in love with Jackson for ages, but trying to gain his favor only pushes him further away. When she learns Annie Oakley is traveling through Texas, Tessa seeks lessons from the famed markswoman. If Jackson's life revolves around guns, taking up shooting might help her engage his interest. Too bad she can't hit the broad side of a barn.
When Annie loans Tessa a custom pistol, however, things begin to change. The lore behind the mysterious weapon fosters hope that Tessa might finally hit the target of Jackson's heart. But when danger threatens, she might be forced to use the pistol for something other than finding love.

MY THOUGHTS.....
Karen Witemeyer is known for her humorous Western romances and this novella is a perfect example. Tessa James loves Jackson Spivey but getting his attention has been a bust so far because he believes that he isn't worthy of her! What's a gal to do? She decides to grab his heart by learning her way around guns and who better to teach her than Annie Oakley, the famous lady sharpshooter? Will Tessa succeed, or is there danger ahead for anyone who steps in front of her special pink pistol?
In Her Sights is filled with fun, laughter, and romance. Tessa's efforts are sweetly endearing, Jackson is one special cowboy, and the romantic chemistry that they share is clean but oh, so sizzling! I especially loved the historical tidbits about the real-life Annie Oakley and the inspiring threads of faith that are woven into this story! It's an appealing Western adventure that introduces readers to the Pink Pistol Sisterhood series!
I received a digital copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid- to late1800s.
