Their Unlikely Protector introduced Valerie, Brett, and Valerie's adorable twin brothers but there was also a reunion with some of the characters from the previous two books that were set in Wychmere Bay. I loved catching up with them but my main focus was on Valerie and Brett's relationship, and I couldn't wait to see if a "friends to enemies to friends again" relationship would evolve into something more. There were relevant topics, such as dyslexia, eating disorders, and bullying, and I admired the strong faith elements that were woven into this engaging plot!

If you want an emotional story with family, faith, friendship, and romance, grab a copy of Their Unlikely Protector. It has all of the feel-good vibes of a Hallmark movie!

MY THOUGHTS.....

History was one of my favorite subjects in school so it's no surprise that historical fiction is now one of my preferred genres! This new book is set during WWII, one of my favorite eras, but I wasn't familiar with the efforts to save the Arabian horses that were in danger of being destroyed after the German invasion of Poland. Author Nicole M. Miller weaves facts with fiction and the result is a breathtaking adventure that kept me completely mesmerized. Adia Kensington was passionate about saving those precious horses and Bret Conway was just as determined to gather intelligence for the British. I adored the protective love that Aida had for a young Polish orphan named Ewan and I was captivated by her unlikely friendship with Bret. Watching their relationship grow and deepen was swoon-worthy romance at its best!

This amazing story spans seven years and it reminds us that World War II was a time when ordinary citizens became extraordinary heroes, danger was ever present, and tremendous sacrifices were the norm. Until Our Times Comes is a wonderful read for horse lovers, history lovers, and lovers of romance. It's a remarkable debut novel and I look forward to seeing what this author shares in the future!

She often writes Amish suspense novels, but this newest book by Mary Alford isn't the usual Amish story! Yes, there are Amish characters, but the primary focus is on an Englisch human trafficking ring in Montana. Alford shares a gritty, eye-opening story that shows how easy it is to be drawn into this world of evil and how difficult it is to escape. Elizabeth Wyse was an innocent eighteen-year-old Amish girl until she placed her trust in the wrong person, and her life was turned into an unending cycle of pain and abuse.

Ambush in the Mountains tackles an important subject and Alford poignantly conveys the many emotions involved! I felt the fear, guilt, and helplessness of the young woman now known as Summer, and I was both horrified and disgusted by the abuse experienced by her and other victims of this crime. This is an exciting story that's filled with unending danger, heart-pounding suspense, and intense emotions, and it's one that I won't soon forget.

Memorable characters, a suspense-filled plot, and a powerful message of hope and faith make this one of Alford's best books yet. I recommend Ambush in the Mountains to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense!

Carrie Fancett Pagels often chooses Mackinac Island as the setting for her books and she's become a wonderful travel ambassador for this area. I've never been there personally but I feel like I've seen the lighthouses, walked the secluded beaches, and experienced some of the historic events of this special place. This newest book took me back to 1897 Mackinac Island for a special reunion with many of the characters that I'd met before. The Sugarplum Ladies were back but much of the story centered around two young women and the two male friends from their childhoods. And, then, there was Jack Welling! He hadn't learned to filter his thoughts before he spoke so his remarks often provided humor during times when laughter was greatly needed. I really enjoyed Jack!!

Mackinac Island Beacon has a heartwarming story with romance, a missing daughter, and a spotlight on adoption and orphanages during the last years of the nineteenth century. I appreciated that Pagels used her psychological training to show the effects of mental illness and the need for treatment and understanding. She also enhanced the story with her references to faith. Pagel reminded us that God is always present in our lives and that His provision is non-ending. How else could the intense connection between Susan and Val be explained? How else can we define the instant connection that we often find with perfect strangers?

Longing for a lovely vacation getaway but unable to go physically? Mackinac Island Beacon is the perfect summer read for anyone looking for romance, a lovely setting, and an awesome adventure! I recommend it to all who enjoy historical Christian fiction.

Kate Lloyd is a well-known author of Amish fiction, but she also excels in writing women's contemporary fiction. This book is the perfect example of the latter. Lloyd possesses a unique ability to fully engage readers and she does it by projecting real emotions! I alternated between frustration and compassion; I smiled, laughed, and I was even moved to tears. Most of all, I cheered for these people, and I longed for a happy ending!

There is romance in Mona Lisa Smiles but the main focus is on family and friends. It features the point of view of three very realistic characters who are fallible but likable, weak while strong, and all are dealing with issues common to many of us. If you're looking for a book that will keep you turning the pages, grab a copy of Mona Lisa Smiles.

This book is such a satisfying way to end the Ryland + St. Clair series! Author Nancy Mehl delves deeper into a relationship that began as a working partnership and progressed to mutual respect and friendship, but always promised so much more! I always thought that River Ryland and Tony St. Clair were meant to be together but there were so many stumbling blocks! Now, in Cold Vengeance, River still has multiple personal problems and she's threatened by an accomplice of the Salt River Killer. She's a vulnerable target but she isn't alone, because steadfast and loyal Tony is determined to protect her as they both work to find a missing cold-case podcaster! Will he succeed or will they all be at risk?

I've loved this series! The cold cases, the FBI profilers in the Behavioral Analysis Unit, and the non-ending danger have kept me turning the pages. I've often said that no one can write a tormented mind better than Nancy Mehl, but she never fails to show how goodness can prevail. We've seen River's questions and doubts and Tony's strong faith, but this story allows us to witness River's spiritual growth! She finally understands that God's Plan is always right and He's always there for His children!

If you enjoy thrilling suspense and satisfying romance that's woven together with an inspiring faith message, grab a copy of Cold Vengeance. You may lose some sleep, but you won't regret reading this book!

MY THOUGHTS.....

There are so many reasons why I loved this book! It appealed to my love of mysteries, it's set during the 1950s. and there's s an amazing group of characters. The Women of Wynton's is an engaging story of four women who have only one thing in common: they deeply respect their boss and they're determined to protect him from a murderer who's targeted other employees of Wynton's Department Store. Can they put aside their differences long enough to keep him safe?

Author Donna Mumma confesses her fascination for the movies and fashions during that period and I share that same interest! I love the glamour that was present during that era, and Mumma's amazing descriptions brought it all back. During an enticing scene of a fashion show that Wynton provided for its customers, I could visualize the attractive models wearing beautiful dresses with crinolines under the full skirts, hats that matched the outfits, and gorgeous jewelry that glittered in the lights of the runway! So fun to read but there's so much more. There's also a powerful reminder of the racial inequality that still existed during that time. The Women of Wynton's is part historical fiction, part cozy mystery but its real strength is in the value of friendship! Friendship that can cross any social or gender barrier!

If you're looking for an entertaining story with history, mystery, and a little glam, grab a copy of this book! I recommend it to all who enjoy Christian fiction.

It's hard to believe that this is a debut novel! Author Jenny Erlingsson shares the poignant story of a Southern makeup artist's encounter with a famous Hollywood actor when a movie crew comes to Adanne's hometown. This would give her a chance to earn badly needed money for her family but there's just one complication. She's worked with John Pope before and it didn't end well. Can she endure working with him again?

I enjoyed watching a very tenuous relationship blossom into liking, respect, and finally, so much more! The romance is sweet, the chemistry is real, and I cheered for their brave leaps of faith! Her Part to Play is a heartwarming Christian romance!

MY THOUGHTS.....

Heritage, Michigan is the setting of this lovely story that's filled with forgiveness, redemption, and second chances. Seth and Grace each left Heritage as teenagers but they're both back, emotional baggage and all. Seth's struggles are real but he's determined to prove his self-worth, and Grace must decide if her parents' dreams for her future are truly what she wants. Can they overcome their pasts, find new purposes, and build a future in this very special place?

I love it when bad choices from our past become the stepping stones to a brighter tomorrow. Authors Tari Faris and Susan May Warren perfectly illustrate this in their story of reconciliations and restoration! Are you needing to be swept away to a place of hope and healing? Heritage is certainly the place!

You're the Reason is a delightful contemporary romance with memorable characters, a lovely setting, and an inspiring faith message. I highly recommend it to all who enjoy Christian romance!

I have been writing fiction for more than twelve years. It has been an exciting journey for this math-loving-dyslexic girl.
