What's better than finding a lovely town with friendly people? How about a return visit and the chance to meet more amazing townsfolk? Author Meghann Whistler takes us back to Wychmere Bay, a wonderful fictional town on Cape Cod, in a sweet story of second chances, friendship, and love. Valerie Williams and Brett Richardson aren't strangers but their first meeting after many years apart is filled with a little mistrust and a lot of fear. Brett's heroic actions help prevent a tragedy, and Valerie finds herself on a journey to forgiveness. Will she be able to look past their hurtful past and glimpse a future of healing and promise?
Their Unlikely Protector introduced Valerie, Brett, and Valerie's adorable twin brothers but there was also a reunion with some of the characters from the previous two books that were set in Wychmere Bay. I loved catching up with them but my main focus was on Valerie and Brett's relationship, and I couldn't wait to see if a "friends to enemies to friends again" relationship would evolve into something more. There were relevant topics, such as dyslexia, eating disorders, and bullying, and I admired the strong faith elements that were woven into this engaging plot!
If you want an emotional story with family, faith, friendship, and romance, grab a copy of Their Unlikely Protector. It has all of the feel-good vibes of a Hallmark movie!
