This book takes us back to the fictional Hope Crossing, Texas, a great place to visit and an 'idyllic place to grow up'. Alli and Jake were once neighbors and best friends but time and circumstances have a way of altering relationships, and Jake's actions certainly changed theirs. Seventeen years later, Jake is in need and we glimpse just how special Alli is. Setting her hurts aside, she agrees to help care for his two young children. Alli may have doubts about Jake but there's no question how she feels about Maddy and Connor!
