Not Exactly Mr. Darcy (The Silver Teapot #1) by Carolyn Miller

Not Exactly Mr. Darcy (The Silver Teapot #1)
ABOUT THE BOOK

Pride, Pemberley, and Second Chances

When history-loving Olivia Bennett’s teaching contract isn’t renewed, she is considered her family’s logical choice to care for her ailing grandmother in a tiny English village. While there, she soon finds additional work at nearby Hartbury Hall—one of England’s great houses once used as Pemberley in a filmed production of Pride and Prejudice. The head gardener there, however, proves to be anything but the gentlemanly hero of that famous book. Little does she know that behind Liam Browne’s brusque exterior is both a family tragedy and a legacy that demands truth and honor, creating a crisis that only Liv’s vivacious determination can resolve. Along the way, she may just learn that appearances count for naught. . .and that love can be found in unexpected ways.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Picture a wounded soul versus an overly enthusiastic optimist. Throw in a beautiful English setting, the grumpy gardener who may not be what he seems, along with a cast of wonderful supporting characters, and the result is SO satisfying! Not Exactly Mr. Darcy alludes to the beloved character from Pride and Prejudice, but this certainly isn't a retelling. Realistic emotions, tantalizing romantic tension, and the promise of a second chance make this an enjoyable read in its own right, as Liam Browne and Olivia Bennett discover a special connection!

I've loved Carolyn Miller's earlier Regency romances and enjoyed several of her contemporary stories, so this clever combination of the two genres is especially delightful! It's also the first book in a new series, so I have more enjoyment to look forward to in the next book of The Silver Teapot series. I recommend Not Exactly Mr. Darcy to all who enjoy sweet inspirational romance!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

On the Edge of Trust by Patricia Bradley

On the Edge of Trust
ABOUT THE BOOK

Sometimes the closer you get to justice, the deadlier it becomes.

When decorated FBI undercover agent Scott Sinclair suffers a gunshot wound in his right arm, the injury threatens his future career in the field. He is determined to regain his former job by training himself to use his left hand, and failure is not an option--especially when he's unofficially pulled into an investigation.

Tori Mitchell is a passionate crime reporter and podcaster who has dedicated her life to seeking justice. Her relentless pursuit of the truth has freed a wrongfully convicted man from prison, making Tori an enemy of the true killer. When her nephew is accused of a different murder, nothing can stop her from getting involved and clearing his name.

Soon after Tori and Scott reconnect on the case, shots are fired, leaving them to wonder which of them has been targeted. As the investigation intensifies, so do the threats and the sparks between them, but Tori's doubtful if she can extend grace and trust to Scott. They'll have to combine their skills and rely on their growing relationship to outsmart the killer.

An Amish Bookshop Courtship (Amish Chocolate Shop Brides, Book 2) by Patricia Johns

An Amish Bookshop Courtship: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance (Amish Chocolate Shop Brides Book 2)
ABOUT THE BOOK

Can the end of one chapter
be the start of their own love story?

Returning home to sell his late father’s bookstore, the last thing Amish carpenter Jesse Kauffman expects is to be roped into a pretend romance…with his childhood best friend. But Fannie Flaud is determined to shape her own future and will do anything to avoid the matchmaking plans of her well-meaning family. As they spend time together and rebuild their friendship, real feelings begin to grow between them. Now torn between Fannie and the life he has planned in Indiana, Jesse must Can he let go of his past to stay with the woman he’s always loved?

MY THOUGHTS.....

An Amish bookshop evokes mixed feelings for two old friends in this touching story from author Patricia Johns. It was a special part of Fannie Flaud's growing-up years in Menno Hills, but the owner's son can't wait to get rid of it! Jesse Kauffman plans to sell Kauffman Books, go back to Indiana, and put his haunted past behind him. Unless....Fannie can recruit him to help her avoid the plans of well-meaning matchmakers!

I loved the pretend courtship that slowly blossomed into sweet romance, and Fannie's compassion as she realized that Jesse's youth wasn't as idyllic as hers. Could she help him forgive the father who had hurt him so deeply? Would her plans for the bookshop convince him to stay?

Books and chocolate. Friendship and second chances. An Amish Bookshop Courtship is a perfect choice during this hectic Christmas season! I recommend it to all who enjoy Amish Christian romance.

I received a digital copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review.

Dark Design (The Erin Delaney Mysteries #2) by Nancy Mehl

Dark Design (The Erin Delaney Mysteries #2)
ABOUT THE BOOK

When Erin Delaney learns that a serial killer has mimicked the murder portrayed in her bestselling novel, her career as an author takes a detrimental turn. She joins her friend Kaely Quinn-Hunter, a former FBI profiler, to help identify a suspect, but the team is stumped, and Kaely fears for Erin's safety as they work to dismantle a web of fear and chaos.

On top of tracking down a murderer, Erin must shoulder the weight of a haunted past and the claims that she stole the plot of her novel from one of her sources. But as the enemy looms closer than ever, Erin's life hangs in the balance.

Bestselling author Nancy Mehl threads a plot of danger and threats with heart-drumming suspense in book two of The Erin Delaney Mysteries.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Nancy Mehl once again pulls readers into a tale of good versus evil, and it's hard to determine the cause of that evil! A killer who uses murder scenes from popular murder mysteries has used one of Erin Delaney's books for his latest crimes, and Erin is also accused of stealing a book plot from another author. How much more must she endure as she and Kaely Quinn-Hunter feverishly work to stop this madman?

Mehl created a powerful duo when she paired FBI profiler Kaely with ex-policewoman/author Erin in the first Erin Delaney Mysteries, and Dark Design continues to explore their special partnership. They're both haunted by troubled pasts, but Kaely's faith has sustained her. Will her strong Christian witness convince Erin that she needs the peace and comfort found in knowing God personally?

I loved the characters, the intricate clues, and the powerful faith message woven into the plot. Friendship and romance sweetened the story, but danger, fear, and compelling suspense kept me turning the pages! This isn't my first Nancy Mehl book, and it certainly won't be my last. The riveting conclusion of Dark Design left me yearning for the next book in this series!

I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Glorious Image of God: How Jesus Reveals Who God Made You to Be by Rousseaux Brasseur

The Glorious Image of God: How Jesus Reveals Who God Made You to Be
ABOUT THE BOOK

Being made in God’s image can be a hard concept for children to fully grasp, but The Glorious Image of God explains how, through the story of Jesus, we can learn to see God’s reflection within ourselves and foster a deeper sense of spiritual identity and self-worth. From ministry leader and children’s book author Rousseaux Brasseur, this masterfully woven, rhyming text dives into stories from the Bible unpacking what it means to be an image bearer of God, helping us to better understand how we can share God’s love and goodness with others in our lives.

Every human being is a wonderful work of art, made in God’s image and capable of reflecting God’s goodness and light to others. The Glorious Image of God is a fun exploration of the story of how God wove his likeness into us humans, where our purpose comes from, and how Jesus reflects who God made you to be. This picture book for kids 4 and up is designed to help grow children’s foundation of faith, guiding them to understand how they reflect the image of God and how God delights when his children fill the world with his love.

The Glorious Image of God:

  • Is an ideal addition to any child’s bookshelf or children’s ministry library, unpacking biblical truths in a theologically sound manner to bring increased understanding for children 4 and up
  • Full of colorful, bright illustrations that engage children and help them imagine Bible stories as well as modern day scenes where they can reflect God’s image.
  • Perfect for reading together at bedtime, in Sunday school, in Christian classrooms, or any favorite read-aloud times.
  • A great gift for Christmas, Easter, and any gift-giving occasion or holiday.

Help your little ones understand the profound concept of being made in God’s image. Through Jesus, they will learn to see God’s reflection within themselves, fostering a deeper sense of spiritual identity, self-worth, and connection to Jesus.

MY THOUGHTS.....

Did you know you're a wonderful work of art, made in God's image?

I often told my daughter that she was special because she was created in the image of God, and now I find myself giving my soon-to-be 12-year-old granddaughter that same assurance. If only I'd had this book sooner!

The Glorious Image of God is a charming book for all of the littles in your life! It has captivating illustrations. poetic text to stir their imaginations, and a message taken straight from God's Word. Author Rousseaux Brasseur shares the Creation story, the fall of mankind, and the need for God's Son to be sacrificed, but more importantly, he reminds us that Christ's resurrection allowed God's image to shine through all of us.

I especially love the final words in The Glorious Image of God.

"Remember that God made everyone to share His love and light-.
So go reflect God's glorious image and let your light shine bright!"

This book is a perfect book for family bedtime reading. but it's also a wonderful resource for Sunday school or youth groups! Needing a special gift for the children in your life? This is a wonderful choice!

I received a review copy from the publisher via FrontGate Media. There was no obligation for a positive review.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Glorious Image of God helps children to understand their life purpose and their strong connection to God!

These are such fun illustrations. Kids being kids!

"But there within its branches a most crafty creature lurked."

I wonder how long it will take your littles to find the serpent in the tree?

God's Plan would not allow his glorious image to be "spoiled or lost forever".

I'm always excited when Mary and baby Jesus are highlighted!

Jesus's death and resurrection..."the world began anew".

God's glorious image had been restored!

Young, old, small or big...we are all made in God's own image.
This is what gives us worth!
