When the ever-cautious Val Locklier finally agrees to a cross-country move with her nine-year-old son to take a job with her best friend, Molly, everything she had planned for the future unravels within the first week. After pushing aside her anxieties about renting an apartment from Molly's twin brother, whom she barely knows, she accepts an invitation for an elite filmmaker's mentorship. Caught between her insecurities and new possibilities, she feels completely unprepared for the challenges ahead.
Pastor Miles McKenzie returns home from abroad to discover that not only does he have an intriguing new tenant living upstairs, he's been banished to a ministry on life support. Disillusioned and restless, he pursues a relationship with Val without stopping to consider the timing or asking God to direct his steps.
As Val struggles to stop hiding behind the camera and Miles wrestles with shattered expectations, they'll find that authentic love and sacrifice must go hand in hand.
Val and Miles meet under strained circumstances and a relationship that begins on such rocky ground turns into a promising friendship that left me longing for more. Will Val finally push her insecurities aside, and learn to believe in herself? Can Miles accept that God's plan has placed him exactly where he needs to be?
If you're looking for a lovely, contemporary romance, search no more. If you're wanting to be both encouraged and challenged, this book is definitely for you! All That It Takes is filled with faith, hope, and a strong reminder of God's provision for each one of us!

MY THOUGHTS.....
I enjoy contemporary romance but there are a few authors who can weave beautiful thoughts into wonderful tales that reach deep into my soul. Nicole Deese is one of those authors, and she's truly outdone herself with All That It Takes. She's created characters with flaws that we all can understand and given them positive attributes that we all want to have. She allows us to grieve for their failures, and rejoice in their victories, and she balances all of it with humor and wit. I love Val Locklier and her son Tucker, but Pastor Miles McKenzie is a treasure! As he struggles with his desire to do major work for God, I am reminded that a person's daily witness is truly the best work of all! How wonderful to be reminded that all of us are capable of doing great work for Him!
