Dangerous Beauty by Melissa Koslin

Dangerous Beauty
ABOUT THE BOOK

Liliana Vela hates the term victim. She's not a victim, she's a fighter. Stubborn and strong with a quiet elegance, she's determined to take back her life after escaping the clutches of human traffickers in her poor Mexican village. But she can't stay safely over the border in America--unless the man who aided in her rescue is serious about his unconventional proposal to marry her.

Meric Toledan was just stopping at a service station for a bottle of water. Assessing the situation, he steps in to rescue Liliana from traffickers. If he can keep his secrets at bay, his wealth and position afford him many resources to help her. But the mysterious buyer who funded her capture will not sit idly by while his prize is stolen from him.

Melissa Koslin throws you right into the middle of the action in this high-stakes thriller that poses the question: What is the price of freedom?

MY THOUGHTS.....

It's true that this is a romantic suspense novel but it's also a feast of emotions. Liliana Vela experiences fear, disbelief, and heartache as she sees her family murdered because of a rich man's obsession. This beautiful young Mexican woman is about to become a victim of human trafficking until she's saved by a complete stranger who suggests a marriage of convenience as a way for her to safely remain in the United States. Meric Toledan seems prepared to be her savior but are there ulterior motives behind his offer of protection?

Author Melissa Koslin shares Liliana's point of view for most of the book, but we eventually get a glimpse of Meric's emotional turmoil and personal struggles. A surprising twist adds even more drama to this stunning tale that shines the spotlight on the painfully relevant subject of human trafficking. Koslin writes about it in a tasteful but powerful manner, and she shows that there can be hope for the victims. Great characters and intense action kept me totally engaged in Dangerous Beauty and I recommend this intriguing story to all who enjoy romantic suspense novels.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Reads. There was no obligation for a positive review.
