The Irish Matchmaker by Jennifer Deibel

The Irish Matchmaker
ABOUT THE BOOK

As daughter of a well-known matchmaker, Catríona Daly is no stranger to the business of love--and sees it as her ticket away from the sleepy village that only comes alive during the annual matchmaking festival. Enter Lord Osborne's son, Andrew, who has returned to the festival after being disappointed by a rival matchmaker's failed setup. Catríona seizes the opportunity to make a better match for the handsome man--and for herself!

Cattle farmer Donal Bunratty is in desperate need of a wife after loss left him to handle the farm and raise his daughter on his own. Shy and lacking the finer social graces, he agrees to attend the matchmaking festival to appease his daughter. But when he arrives, it's not any of the other merrymakers that catch his eye but rather his matchmaker--who clearly has eyes for someone else.

Catríona will have to put all her expertise to work to make a match that could change her life forever. Will her plan succeed? Or will love have its own way?

MY THOUGHTS....

There's so much to love about The Irish Matchmaker, including a lovely romance, an introduction to the real-life Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival, and a return visit to Ireland as it was in 1905. I may never get to physically visit Ireland but author Jennifer Deibel offers a fascinating armchair visit to the small village of Lisdoonvarna and the countryside around County Clare. I loved the vivid descriptions, the lyrical Irish brogue, and the unforgettable characters. Jimmy Daly is the chief matchmaker and we get to witness his most important match ever. Will he approve his daughter's choice of husband, or will he secretly take steps to change her mind?

If you're looking for a romance that makes you swoon during a sometimes hopeless search for true love, grab a copy of The Irish Matchmaker. I felt like I was secretly viewing a match made in Heaven, and I was also touched by the powerful faith message that references The Sermon on The Mount, and our need to always put our trust in The One who cares for all of our needs! I say this each time after reading one of her books, but this may be Deibel's best book yet! It is historical Christian romance at its best!!

I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
