In the heart of the Piney Woods of Texas, Letty Hood has spent the last fifteen years of her life hidden away with her grandmother to escape the deadly schemes of an uncle who wants her dead. Now, with her twenty-first birthday on the horizon, she is forced to accept the escort of a stranger and return to Houston in secret so she can claim a birthright that will make her one of the wealthiest women in Texas. If she lives long enough to inherit.
Pinkerton agent Philip Carmichael has one get the Radcliffe heiress home alive. Expecting a spoiled girl, Philip is surprised to encounter a woman of rare strength with a kind soul and keen wit. As they journey together, Letty's resilience wins his admiration, breaking through his hardened cynicism. Yet the threat to Letty grows more menacing with every mile, and Philip fears that keeping her out of harm's way may be just as impossible as keeping her out of his heart.
"Little Red Riding Hood" and "Sleeping Beauty" entwine for a romantic fairy tale retelling that explores the power of true love conquering even the darkest of nights.
MY THOUGHTS.....
Author Karen Witemeyer's newest book is another fairytale retelling in a Western setting: part Little Red Riding Hood, part Sleeping Beauty, and I absolutely loved it! It has an unselfish mother, an evil uncle, and a young girl deprived of her mother's love for over fifteen years. I was touched by Leah Radcliffe's determination to protect her daughter, even if it meant not knowing where she was during those long years. Finally, Leah enlists the help of the Pinkerton Detective Agency to find Scarlett, but will their efforts be too late?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Scarlett Radcliffe, aka Letty Hood, is strong, brave, and very beautiful, so it's no wonder that one of the Pinkerton agents is instantly beguiled. Philip Carmichael is a special breed of man, and it doesn't take long for Letty to become equally smitten! If you've read any of Witemeyer's books before, you know that she understands and appreciates romance. The sexual tension between Philip and Letty is clean but smoldering and their emotional bond took my breath away.
If you're looking for an action-packed adventure with unforgettable characters and a wolf named Rusty, grab a copy of Cloaked in Beauty. This historical Christian romance is a wonderful addition to the Texas Ever After series!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid-to late1800s.
A lifelong bookworm, Karen is living her dream by writing novels. Her books have consistently hit bestseller lists and have garnered awards such as the ACFW Carol Award, the Holt Medallion, and the Inspirational Reader's Choice Award. In addition, she is a multiple RITA and National Reader's Choice finalist. Karen is also a sought-after speaker for national writing conferences and regional workshops.
Karen's favorite aspect of her writing life is hearing from readers. Nothing encourages her heart more. She'd love to hear from you. You can contact her here.
