A matriarch is described as "a mother who is head and ruler of her family and descendants". Author Paige Allen shares the lives of Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah, in an intriguing exploration of the four matriarchs introduced in Genesis. They experienced doubts and trials during their faith journeys, and their responses set the standard for all of us who now follow. Our faith has been patterned because they persevered in answering God's calling!

Allen is both encouraging and enlightening! Reading her thoughts is like a personal conversation, and her total transparency invites readers to explore their own struggles. She uses five stages to list her observations and ends each stage with questions that spurred my thinking. I especially appreciated that there's ample space to jot down my thoughts!

This book is a powerful reminder that we women are a special part of God's plan. Matriarchs is a wonderful resource for personal use and it would also be perfect for a women's bible group!

What could be better than a return visit to the small Texas town featured in many of Heidi Main's books? How about spending Christmas in Serenity while waiting for a baby that's due in early January? Natalie Patterson needs a job and a place to live after her marriage falls apart and her adoptive parents disown her. Could the answer to her prayers be a temporary job planning a fundraiser to help Reggie Evermore save his special family's ranch?

Reggie and Natalie had both been orphans, so trust and family were major issues in their engaging relationship. I was reminded that families aren't created by blood alone, and friendship can be a wonderful start to a promising future. I loved the detailed character development, realistic emotions, and inspiring faith journeys depicted in The Mistletoe Baby. Most of all, I wondered if this sweet romance could lead to something more? Hopefully, an answer will be given in future books of the Home to Evermore Ranch series!

The cover put a smile on my face, and the story warmed my heart! I recommend The Mistletoe Baby to all who enjoy Christian romance.

The Faithful Cowboy is another engaging story by author Jody Hedlund! She gives readers an amazing hero, an admirable heroine, and the perfect mix of conflict, pent-up emotions, and swoony romantic chemistry. Jameson Noble and Lottie Wilkes may have entered into a marriage of convenience, but it doesn't take long to see that their intense reactions to each other are anything but fake! Who can reject a friendship that's intensified by kindness and powerful physical attraction? Who can resist a man who wins the heart of two little boys?

The first three books were great, but this final book in the Noble Ranch series has become my favorite! It's perfect for fans of clean but sizzling historical romance!

I enjoyed Brandi and Isaac's slowly developing relationship. Their desperate efforts to survive gradually morphed into full trust and emotional attachment. Could their sweet, heartwarming romance provide balm for previous hurts? Would they both experience a renewal of faith?

I'm never disappointed while reading a book by Carol J. Post, but this story was especially satisfying. Brandi's discovery of her birth mother's journal offered a touching explanation that should heal her hurting heart! I recommend Defending the Innocent Target to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense.

Why, it's baby, and God made baby also! Finally, there's a hard, textured orange tail that's perfect for teething!

This small book allows little ones to explore all of their senses, but it's also a wonderful introduction to God's Word. It's a perfect gift for baby showers and first birthdays, but don't forget to add God Made the Ocean to your church nursery!

The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a beautiful Christmas quilt given to a young woman by a dying friend who had planned to present it to her daughter on her wedding day. This quilt becomes a source of both enjoyment and comfort due to its outward beauty and the Bible verse stitched on the back. “For thou are my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me." The words of Psalm 31:3 offer three generations of one family comfort, strength, and the reminder that they have each experienced love and blessings throughout their lives. I truly enjoyed The Beloved Christmas Quilt. Three generations of Brunstetter women each share a story linking three generations of Zook women to a treasured Christmas quilt. Three different authors successfully blended their stories into one appealing plotline! It is a perfect book to read during the holidays, but its message is appropriate at any time. We are reminded of God's love; His perfect plan in creating a family unit; and the joy of traditions passed down from one generation to another.

This is a reissue of a book that I first read in 2017, but it is as appealing today as it was then! Thank you, Wanda Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter, and Richelle Brunstetter, for your heartwarming stories!

This book's description mentions younger children as its target audience, but I recommend it for all ages! The Good Farmer and the Worried Donkey is a beautifully written story that parallels the parable of the sower mentioned in Matthew 11. Jesus was known for his parables, or storytelling, and author Hannah E. Harrison captures His essence perfectly. Charlie the donkey has been treated cruelly by his former master but soon learns that kindness still exists. His new owner showers him with patience and understanding, and Charlie finally has peace and contentment!

Charlie knows he's about to get in trouble again for being slow. When a man comes to purchase him, he wonders:

""Why he wants me, I can't imagine."

The Good Farmer and the Worried Donkey is filled with biblical truths, scripture that supports the story, and Bible verses for worried donkeys or worried people. As I thumbed through the book, I was reminded that we don't have to carry heavy burdens alone. Charlie had the good farmer but we have a loving Father in Heaven.  Such a powerful faith message!

"It's too much!!!"

Charlie knows that he can't carry the loaded down cart. 

The farmer assures him ""You're my donkey...and the yoke is mine."

There is so much to love about this book! It has beautiful pictures, text that children will understand, and relatable objects that illustrate the story. Reading it as a family offers children reassurance and encouragement. They will be loved even if they make mistakes! The Good Farmer and the Worried Donkey is a wonderful addition to a church library and a perfect gift for birthdays or Christmas!

Charlie is filled with joy! He knows that this Good Farmer is his Farmer,  his  strength and salvation!

This is a perfect story for all who enjoy well-developed characters, page-turning suspense, and the grandeur of the snowy Rocky Mountains. From the beginning, I was instantly engaged in Julia Steven's fragile emotions after finding a dying man in a small Colorado town. Fear and guilt had been her constant companions since her sister's death, but investigating this mysterious discovery might prove to be her undoing. Would she find protection after becoming the target of a local meth ring?

I loved the deepening romantic awareness between Julia and her protector, former DEA agent Cade Hawkins, but they both carried emotional baggage. Could Julia overcome her fear and guilt over her sister's death? Would Cade be able to give up his need for total control? I always enjoy Nancy Mehl's books, but this series' conclusion is surely one of her best! I was immediately drawn into Erin Delaney's frantic search for her friend Kaely Quinn. I knew the villain's identity, but I couldn't understand the motive or his terrifying ultimatum. "You have six days to save her. I won't change my mind."

Fatal Finale is a chilling tale of fear, cryptic messages, and Kaely's intriguing reunions with people from her earlier profiling cases. Such a treat for all of us who've read the previous adventures of both Erin and Kaely, and a wonderful invitation to those who've missed their fantastic stories!

Mehl's multi-faceted characters always intrigue me! Good people with human failings, evil people with a faint glimmer of good, and others who suffer from mental illness. All, however, are candidates for God's forgiveness and grace. If you long for fascinating characters, riveting suspense, and inspiring faith, this story is for you!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nancy Mehl lives in Wichita, Kansas with her husband, Norman, and her very active puggle, Watson. First published in 2001, she has now authored nine books, including an omnibus mystery collection, Cozy in Kansas, which contains three of her previously published Ivy Towers mysteries. Book three in the series, For Whom the Wedding Bell Tolls, won the American Christian Fiction Writers Mystery Book of the Year award. Nancy's main writing interests lie in mystery although her new Harmony Series leans more toward the romantic suspense genre. Nancy runs a HUD program for the city of Wichita and is president of a volunteer organization, Wichita Homebound Outreach. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Kansas Authors Club.
