Present Danger (Rocky Mountain Courage, #1) by Elizabeth Goddard

Present Danger (Rocky Mountain Courage, #1)

Former FBI Special Agent Jack Tanner is working as a detective in Montana when he comes across a body in the national forest during a search and rescue mission. He's committed to finding the killer, even if it means working alongside his old flame, US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors.

When Terra discovers that the murder victim had ties to a powerful and dangerous trafficker of archaeological artifacts, the investigation takes a deadly turn--one that hits too close to home. As Terra fears she lacks the courage to face what comes next, Jack is more determined than ever to protect her. But he's failed her before. And if he fails this time, it will cost them far more than just their hearts.

Join bestselling and award-winning author Elizabeth Goddard as she plunges you into a web of deceit made of hidden crimes, open threats, and long-buried family secrets in this gripping first book of an explosive new series.

She's done it again! Author Elizabeth Goddard has written a story that kept me totally immersed with the characters and their unpredictable lives. Terra Connors and Jack Tanner find themselves working together to solve a murder, but they quickly become involved in something much deeper. Present Danger begins with a plane crash and a missing pilot in Montana, and the danger escalates when the trafficking of Native American artifacts is discovered. Murder, theft, and unexpected obstacles make this a book that I couldn't put down and I loved that there are snippets of information that seem to solve the case....until another twist is introduced and I'm proven wrong again!

I'm always amazed at Goddard's ability to create characters that are both intriguing and endearing. Terra and Jack each have trust issues, and they both have questions about their faith, but their biggest hurdle may be in recognizing their true feelings for each other. A love they believed long dead and buried may still exist, but is it possible to forget past hurts and hidden secrets?

Trust, forgiveness, and God's Plan are key ingredients in this faith-filled story that also includes a large serving of romance. I recommend Present Danger to all who enjoy Christian romantic suspense and I look forward to the second book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series.

I received an advanced reader's copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
