Crosshairs (Natchez Trace Park Rangers #3) by Patricia Bradley

Crosshairs (Natchez Trace Park Rangers, #3)
ABOUT THE BOOK

Investigative Services Branch (ISB) ranger Ainsley Beaumont arrives in her hometown of Natchez, Mississippi, to investigate the murder of a three-month-pregnant teenager. While she wishes the visit was under better circumstances, she never imagined that she would become the killer's next target--nor that she'd have to work alongside an old flame.

After he almost killed a child, former FBI sniper Lincoln Steele couldn't bring himself to fire a gun, which had deadly and unforeseen consequences for his best friend. Crushed beneath a load of guilt, Linc is working at Melrose Estate as an interpretive ranger. But as danger closes in on Ainsley during her murder investigation, Linc will have to find the courage to protect her. The only question is, will it be too little, too late?

Award-winning author Patricia Bradley continues her Natchez Trace Park Rangers series with a story about how good must prevail when evil just won't quit.

MY THOUGHTS.....

A terrible storm, an elderly woman in danger because someone is searching for a missing diary from the 1870s, and a cover that suggests that danger is present! These are all promising signs that a great story is in store, and this book has this from the very beginning. Ainsley Beaumont and Lincoln Steele find themselves together again, after many years apart, as they're drawn into an investigation that may involve more than just a current-day murder. The missing diary increases the intrigue, and Ainsley and Lincoln's previous relationship adds to the personal interest of this well-written romantic suspense. They both carry hurts from their pasts, but there is certainly a smoldering spark waiting to be ignited. Is there still a chance for them, if they can survive the danger that awaits them?

Crosshairs is another example of Patricia Bradley's ability to capture a reader's attention and keep them invested until the very end. Ainsley's trust issues and her troubled relationship with her father have caused her to question God, but Linc's strong faith is like a beacon for her. A touching faith message, mysterious happenings, and several twists and turns make this a thrilling story that I couldn't put down. Crosshairs is a great addition to the Natchez Trace Park Rangers series, and I look forward to book four.

I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
