While Little Mole is bringing home a beautiful mushroom as a Christmas gift for his mother, he encounters woodland friends in need and shares the mushroom with them.
MY THOUGHTS.....
I first met Little Mole when his mama was trying to end his sadness by giving him the gift of hope. Now, in Little Mole's Christmas Gift, he is hoping to give his mama a perfect gift. Little Mole is so happy when he finds it but he soon realizes that there are others who may need this present more than she does. As he carries "the biggest, the best, the most beautiful mushroom he had ever seen" to his home, he sees friends who are hungry, tired, and cold. Is this little mole with the understanding heart willing to help them by sharing some of the mushroom? Will Mama Mole be disappointed with the much smaller gift that he now has to give?
Author Glenys Nellist shares such a special story with her fun, easy-to-read text and Sally Garland perfectly captures the adorable animals featured in the book. Little ones will enjoy hearing this story and older children will be excited to read it on their own; all of them will be captivated by the colorful illustrations!
I'm always eager to find a children's book that is both inspiring and entertaining and Little Mole's Christmas Gift certainly fits this description. Children are taught both the value of recognizing the needs of others and the importance of sharing with those people. It is the perfect book for the holiday season!
I received a copy of this book from the author. A favorable review was never required and no monetary compensation was given. These are my own thoughts.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I'm an author of over twenty books for children, including the best-selling Twas The Evening of Christmas, The Wonder That is You, and two popular series: Love Letters from God and Snuggle Time. I've also written Little Mole Finds Hope and Little Mole's Christmas Gift. Here's my little story...
Although I live in Michigan, USA, I was born and raised in a little village in northern England. Four long decades later, I would find myself living across the pond, married to a wonderful man, mum to four adult children and three daughters-in-law, and grandma to three bouncing boys and one gorgeous girl. And as if all that wasn’t blessing enough, I somehow became an author, despite giving up on my first book half way through.
And if you would have told me then, that this book would one day become a series, that I would begin a second series, and a third… I never would have believed you. The only possible explanation is that our great God is able to do immeasurably more than all I could ever ask or possibly imagine.
